Development Director
Oakland, California | Part-Time / Fractional
Help us build something extraordinary.
Full Circle Cats is at an exciting turning point. We have an ambitious vision for the future of animal welfare—one that recognizes the deep connection between the well-being of cats and the communities they call home. Now, we’re preparing to take that vision to the next level by expanding into a physical location and clinic that will allow us to deepen our impact and transform the lives of cats and people throughout the Bay Area.
We’re looking for a Development Director to help make that vision a reality.
This is an opportunity to join a growing organization at a pivotal moment and play a meaningful role in shaping its future. Working closely with the Executive Director and team, you’ll help build the fundraising strategy, relationships, and resources needed to support our next chapter of growth.
The Opportunity
The Development Director will lead and strengthen Full Circle Cats’ fundraising efforts, helping translate our vision into the philanthropic support needed to bring it to life. This person will be both a strategic thinker and a hands-on fundraiser, comfortable building relationships, developing new opportunities, and creating the infrastructure to support sustainable growth.
Key responsibilities include:
Fundraising Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with organizational goals and the expansion into a physical location.
Major Gifts: Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors and major gift prospects.
Campaign Development: Help develop and lead fundraising initiatives to support our physical location and long-term organizational vision.
Foundation and Corporate Giving: Identify grant opportunities, develop proposals, and cultivate relationships with foundations and corporate partners.
Donor Engagement: Build meaningful relationships with existing and prospective supporters, creating opportunities for deeper engagement and investment in our mission.
Development Infrastructure: Strengthen fundraising systems, donor communications, stewardship practices, and development processes.
Collaboration: Work closely with the Executive Director and team to align fundraising priorities with organizational strategy, programs, and growth.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a collaborative, entrepreneurial development professional who is excited by the opportunity to help build something from the ground up.
The ideal candidate brings:
Demonstrated experience in nonprofit fundraising and development.
A track record of cultivating donor relationships and securing philanthropic support.
Experience with major gifts, institutional giving, and fundraising campaigns.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strategic thinking paired with a willingness to roll up their sleeves and get things done.
The ability to work collaboratively with leadership and a small, passionate team.
A belief that supporting animals also means supporting the communities around them.
Experience with capital campaigns, facility expansions, or organizational growth is especially valuable. Certification such as CFRE (Certified Fund-Raising Executive) is a plus.
About the Position
This is a fractional, part-time opportunity with flexibility in how the work is structured. Mostly remote (with some in-person activities and meetings). The Development Director will work closely with the Executive Director and team, with the opportunity to help shape both the role and the organization’s development strategy as we grow.
Compensation commensurate with experience and availability.
Why Full Circle Cats?
This is more than an opportunity to raise money for an established organization. It’s an opportunity to help shape what comes next.
We’re building a model of animal welfare that brings together compassionate care, community engagement, education, and access to essential services. Our planned physical location represents an exciting new chapter—and the potential to make a lasting difference for cats and the people who care about them.
If you’re energized by big ideas, meaningful relationships, and the opportunity to help shape the future of animal welfare in the Bay Area, we’d love to hear from you.
